Pay: $22-$35 per hour
Starting pay within the posted range will be based on relevant experience, technical skills, qualifications, and demonstrated level of proficiency.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, shifts between shop hours of 7am-7pm

Job Summary:
The Auto Body Technician performs body repair and refinishing work primarily on Master’s Transportation fleet vehicles, including buses, vans, trucks, and other company-owned vehicles. This position inspects vehicle damage, completes structural and cosmetic repairs, prepares and refinishes surfaces, and helps return vehicles to safe, serviceable, and professional condition. Work is completed in accordance with company standards, manufacturer repair procedures, applicable safety requirements, and established timelines.
Essential Functions:
- Inspect company fleet vehicles, identify body and cosmetic damage, determine repair needs, and communicate findings to the Auto Body Shop Manager.
- Perform collision and body repairs on buses, vans, trucks, and other fleet vehicles, including removing, repairing, replacing, fitting, and aligning body panels and related components.
- Straighten and reshape damaged panels and components using appropriate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, frame and measuring equipment, and other shop machinery.
- Prepare surfaces for refinishing by cleaning, sanding, grinding, filling, masking, priming, sealing, and completing other required preparation work.
- Mix, match, and apply paint and protective coatings; blend finishes and complete polishing or touch-up work to achieve a durable, professional appearance.
- Assist with paint booth operations and cross-train in vehicle refinishing functions based on prior training, experience, demonstrated proficiency, and business needs, including booth preparation, masking, paint application support, curing, cleanup, and safe equipment operation.
- Repair or replace exterior trim, glass-related components, lighting assemblies, mirrors, doors, bumpers, moldings, and other body-mounted parts as assigned.
- Identify required parts, materials, and supplies; coordinate needs with the manager or parts personnel; and use company resources responsibly.
- Document inspections, repairs performed, labor time, materials used, and vehicle status accurately in company systems or work orders.
- Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining quality standards and minimizing vehicle downtime for fleet operations.
- Perform quality checks to confirm repairs are complete, components function properly, and the vehicle is ready to return to service.
- Move vehicles safely within the facility and lot and assist with vehicle pickup, delivery, or road testing when authorized.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; properly handle tools, equipment, coatings, solvents, and waste; and follow all company and regulatory safety procedures.
Competencies:
- Knowledge of automotive body repair, panel replacement, surface preparation, and refinishing techniques.
- Ability to use body shop hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, measuring systems, paint equipment, and related machinery safely.
- Ability to read work orders, repair procedures, technical information, and basic measurement data.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Effective time management, organization, and ability to prioritize repairs based on fleet needs.
- Basic computer skills for work orders, repair documentation, and parts or materials requests.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with shop, maintenance, fleet, and operations personnel.
- Consistent adherence to safety standards, environmental procedures, and company policies.
Work Environment:
Work is performed primarily in an automotive body shop, paint booth, and fleet service environment. The employee may be exposed to moving vehicles and equipment, elevated noise, dust, fumes, odors, paint products, solvents, spray application and curing processes, welding operations, temperature changes, and other conditions typical of body repair and refinishing work. Required personal protective equipment must be worn, and established paint booth, respiratory protection, safety, and environmental procedures must be followed.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, and use hands and arms to operate tools and handle vehicle components. The employee must be able to work in and around vehicles and in confined or elevated areas as needed. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move heavier parts with assistance or mechanical lifting equipment. The position requires visual acuity, color recognition, depth perception, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to wear required personal protective equipment and respirators when applicable.
Required Education/Experience/Certifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited automotive collision repair or body shop program, or at least three years of directly related body repair and refinishing experience.
- Working knowledge of collision repair methods, panel repair and replacement, surface preparation, and automotive refinishing.
- Demonstrated ability to use body shop tools, equipment, and materials safely and effectively.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position and work effectively in a production-oriented fleet service environment.
Preferred Education/Experience/Certifications:
- Five or more years of automotive or commercial vehicle body repair experience.
- Experience repairing buses, vans, trucks, or other commercial fleet vehicles.
- I-CAR, ASE, paint manufacturer, welding, or other relevant industry certification.
- Training or hands-on experience with automotive paint booth preparation, operation, spray application, curing, ventilation, cleanup, and related safety procedures.
- Welding, fabrication, aluminum repair, fiberglass repair, or plastic repair experience.
- Interior trim or upholstery repair experience.
- Experience with estimating systems, digital work orders, or fleet maintenance software.
