We’re hiring a hands-on Controller / Financial Controller to own the close, strengthen controls, and deliver the financial insight needed to scale—while partnering closely with the CEO and operational leaders.

Job Summary: The Controller is the company’s Financial Controller, responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting and for leading day-to-day accounting operations in a fast-paced, growing transportation organization that sells, leases, rents, and services transport vans and buses. This role oversees the monthly close and general ledger, strengthens internal controls, and ensures compliance with US GAAP while providing clear visibility into revenue streams, fleet and inventory performance, service operations, working capital, and cash flow. Partnering closely with the CEO and operational leaders, the Controller delivers budgeting, forecasting, and decision support, and continuously improves finance processes, systems, and the accounting team to scale with the business.
Essential Functions:
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close; ensure timely, accurate financial statements and account reconciliations.
- Own general ledger integrity, chart of accounts, accounting policies, and US GAAP compliance.
- Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting SOPs to safeguard cash, fleet/inventory, and other company assets.
- Drive annual budget and rolling forecasts; analyze variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Oversee AR/AP, billing, collections, cash management, and disbursements; improve working capital and cash flow visibility.
- Prepare and present financial and operational dashboards and insights to the CEO and leadership team.
- Ensure accurate accounting for multiple revenue streams (vehicle sales, leasing, rentals, and service/parts), including cut-off and reconciliation to operational data.
- Manage fleet and inventory accounting (capitalization, depreciation, disposals, COGS, and reserves) and support operational reporting.
- Coordinate external accountants/auditors and tax filings; ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
- Continuously improve finance processes and systems to increase accuracy, speed, and scalability.
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team; create a high-accountability, service-oriented culture.
- Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.

Required Education/Experience/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business, finance, accounting, or related field.
- Eight to ten years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager.
- Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or CA (chartered accountant).
- Understanding of US GAAP and solid knowledge of financial reporting best practices.
- Strong communications skills, leadership capability, and desire for organizational visibility.
- Experience in and high-level understanding of financial, accounting, and inventory management software systems.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and sound ethical judgement.
- Exceptional computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, and able to quickly learn new financial systems.
- Experience in the private sector preferred.
Preferred Education/Experience/Certifications:
- Ten or more years of professional accounting experience.
- MBA with Accounting emphasis
