Job Summary

The Lead Material Handler provides guidance and training to the Material Handling team that specializes in transport materials throughout the production facility to designated locations.  This role will lead by example, working aside the Material Handling team.  The Lead is also responsible for inventory management, shipping and receiving and material distribution responsibilities.  The Lead Material Handler aligns with Master’s core values of relentlessly pursuing excellence, operating with high integrity, communicating with a positive attitude, and is innovative and solution oriented. The Lead will set the pace and be responsible for the facilitation of the department’s accountabilities and expectations as laid out by the Supply Chain Manager.    

 

Essential Functions 

  • Provide guidance and support to team, and ensures they have the knowledge and training required to complete their job accountabilities 
  • Technical advisor for team 
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements 
  • Transport materials, supplies and finished goods and record material movements in timely manner to keep an updated inventory count 
  • Verify incoming shipments for quality and accuracy, review accompanying documents for accuracy, receive material into inventory and maintain appropriate records 
  • Properly identify and store materials in correct and secure locations 
  • Pick, pack and dispatch materials to support the manufacturing process  
  • Collaborate with internal departments to locate missing material, fix incorrect shipments and replace damaged products 
  • Assist in conducting physical inventory and cycle counts, and with routine audits of inventory records 
  • Prepare material for shipment, perform shipping transactions and maintain resulting records  
  • When problems arise, work with the supply chain team to resolve issues with contractors or vendors 
  • Utilize material handling equipment such as carts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, etc. to transport materials and perform safety checks on that equipment 
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by removing and disposing of packaging and shipment waste from work areas and performing general warehouse housekeeping tasks 
  • Participates in process improvement projects, including Lean and Six Sigma initiatives 
  • Applies Kaizen principles to identify areas for continuous improvement and implement strategies to optimize procurement processes, reduce costs and improve efficiency 
  • Uses 5S methodology to organize and maintain a clean, efficient workplace 
  • Supports established safety and health standards to keep the organization accident-free 
  • Collaborate effectively with all departments to achieve operational excellence and ensure alignment with organizational goals

  • ​Steel-toed shoes with anti-slip soles that meet ASTM F2413-2018​

Required Education/Experience/Certifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required 
  • 2+ years of related experience required 
  • Experience in record keeping, data entry and stock management 
  • Strong verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Good math and written communication skills 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software 
  • Efficient time management skills 
  • Valid Driver’s License  
 
Preferred Education/Experience/Certifications

  • ​​College coursework or other formal training in related field preferred 
  • ​1-5 years of experience operating heavy equipment and working in a warehouse and/or manufacturing setting 
  • ​Forklift certification 
  • ​Knowledge of OSHA and regulatory requirements 
  • ​Utilization of MRP/ERP software and applications such as Sage, SAP, Oracle, or Syteline 
  • ​Experienced in 5S methodology with demonstrated proficiency in organizing and maintaining a clean, efficient workplace 
  • ​Experience in Kaizen principles and practice, including the ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement effective solutions 
  • ​Experience in an ISO 9001:2015 environment 
  • ​Bilingual: English/Spanish​ 
 

Travel Requirements: Occasionally required - less than 1%, in a company provided vehicle (to pick up, deliver items)
